Amram & Jochebed

In Hebrews 11:23, we read about one of the greatest heroes of them all, Moses. Before we focus on him, let's look at the backstory by focusing on his parents, whose names are listed in Exodus 6:20.

As we read through the beginning chapters of Exodus, we see a Pharaoh come to power who had no respect for Israel or the God they worshiped. His plan? Have the leaders of the Hebrew midwives agree to perform full-term abortions to kill all the Israelite infant boys. Yet in the midst of these tragic circumstances, Moses' parents chose to have faith in God and not fear man.

In one of the most unselfish acts in the Bible, we see Jochebed demonstrate great faith. She had done everything within her God-given ability to protect and preserve her child, and then in faith, she turned him over to God.
