Prominent or Preeminent?

The passage we will be studying today is the very heartbeat of Christianity. This is the essence of all we believe, the very foundation of our faith. It is the issue of the identity and the deity and the supremacy of the Lord Jesus Christ. If we get this wrong, we get nothing right.

Verses 15-18 is one of the great essays in the New Testament about the person and work of Jesus. It removes all confusion as to what the Christian faith is built upon: our hope is not built on the music of our worship, the personality of the pastor, or the tradition of a denomination. It is built on nothing else than Jesus blood and righteousness!
