God's Plumb Line

God called Amos off of the farm and sent him to preach to His people, the Jews, who were in a dangerous situation. They were living in sin, ignoring God’s will, and yet pretending that everything was alright.

Let’s imagine the scene: Amos was praying for His people, “God, how can I get through to these people? They haven’t listened to my prophecies, they haven’t listened to my sermons…” So God caused Amos to see visions (dreams) of horrible things that were about to become reality.
