Disaster Relief Certification Training
Spiritual Preparation/EvangelismLed by Earl and Marilyn Burnett (C302), February 5 & 19, 6:00 pm
1.5 hours each night. This training covers spiritual preparation for the volunteer and evangelism training for the volunteer to be able to use with Disaster Relief victims or in their daily walk.
Shower/Laundry Trailer TrainingLed by John and Kaye Thomas (C302), 6:00 pm on March 5
1.5 hour class. Explanation of the process used to clean the laundry from the intake of clothes through the distribution of the clothes back to their owner. Included are job descriptions and materials used.
Chain Saw Operation and Safety Training6:00 pm on March 12 (C302)
1.5 hour class. This training covers the use and safety requirements for using a chainsaw during a disaster operation, including maintenance of the saw, suggestions for brush/limb pulling, and cutting techniques.
Flood Recovery (Mudout) Training6:00 pm on March 19 (C302)
1.5 hour class. This class covers the techniques for drying out a house after it has been flooded or just wet from having the roof blown off during a storm. We discuss the possible contamination after many floods and the measures needed for decontamination and drying out the building and items in the building.
Introduction into Disaster ReliefLed by John and Kaye Thomas (C302), 5:30 pm on March 26
2-hour session. This course gives the history of the program, what it does, organizations with whom we work, the equipment/units used, and the characteristics of a volunteer. (THIS IS A PREREQUISITE TO ALL SPECIALIZED DISASTER RELIEF CLASSES AND BOTH SESSIONS MUST BE COMPLETED TO SERVE AS A DISASTER RELIEF VOLUNTEER. Cost is $36.00)
